The 4003MP is a trolley-type gravure printing press which is specially suited for combining value added converting operations in line with printing. The press design is very functional and user-friendly featuring all the latest technical solutions for increasing the press run time.
Very effective doctor blade, with a position reference index. Replacement of the doctor blade holder or only the doctor blade without tools via a quick release mechanism. Manual quick changeover trolley carrying on board the printing cylinder, the inking group, the splash guards, the pneumatic pump and the commercial ink pale. The trolley changeover is performed in one operation. The inking system ensures consistent ink distribution and minimum volume of ink in circulation throughout the press.
The efficiency of the ventilation system and optimized airflow in the dryer ensure minimum levels of residual solvent on the printed substrate. The modular design provides alternative options of heating system. Single or double length dryers are available to provide the most appropriate system to meet specific production requirements. The book-type opening of the hoods allows optimum access to the dryers for web threading, cleaning and maintenance of rollers and air nozzles.
The HDI (High-Dynamic-Interface) function which integrates Rotomec Electronic Shaft (ES) technology and Registron® S 5100 register control system achieves register correction several times faster than conventional systems, especially at critical times of machine speed variations.
The press can be equipped with either shafted or shaftless duplex winders. Automatic splice operations can be performed at maximum production speed. The efficient technical solutions that optimize the use and recovery of electrical power enable an important reduction in the level of energy consumption.
TAPS is a truly unique feature - no other such system being available on the market to date. TAPS is an easy to use and high performing feature providing a totally reliable pre-register system which reduces waste at make-ready and changeover to unprecedented levels in flexible materials gravure printing. TAPS works very fast, completing the presetting procedure in a matter of minutes by reading a dedicated pattern printed on the web and phasing each cylinder accordingly: simply, rapidly and completely error-free. The system guarantees the repeatability of the minimum start up waste because it is the first register presetting system based only on what is printed on the web. For this reason TAPS is totally independent of operators skill, web path configuration, parameters adjustment, and there is no need of manual operation or special tools.
The Smart Shaft is a system for speeding and simplifying the cylinder shafting operation, whether with or without bushing system. The Smart Shaft replaces a conventional shafting machine, minimizing splashes even at high speed and reducing the number of parts which require cleaning and maintenance, as it protects the shaft from crashes and ink penetration.
The Smart Sample is an automatic function for fast colour matching. The Smart Sample is very effective in reducing the time and material waste generated by the colour matching process in gravure printing, enabling up to 35% saving for each colour sampling compared to the conventional average for such a procedure.
Due to its modularity, the press can be configured into a multi functional production line by easily combining complementary operations such as solvent-based lamination, solventless lamination or in-register cold seal coating, in line with printing.
