To maintain success for many years in the fast-paced packaging industry, companies must constantly evolve while remaining true to their core values. This is the case for Impackta, a flexible packaging converter based in Luque, Paraguay, founded in 1976 and growing rapidly almost 50 years later.
With core values of innovation, quality, and responsibility, Impackta continues to invest in training, technology, and state-of-the-art machinery to stay ahead of industry trends.
The company's investment in innovation includes a BOBST NOVA SX 550 laminator, which has been crucial in helping Impackta's journey in recent years, as the company has become more profitable while expanding its customer base. The solventless NOVA SX 550 is modular and compact, the ideal production tool when converters require true flexibility. Impackta works in a variety of industries, including food, beverage, fast food, pharmaceutical, and personal care, and the NOVA SX 550 offers the flexibility to meet varying demands. Regardless of job length, substrate, and adhesive types, the machine increases competitive advantage with cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable operation.
"The machine has met all my expectations in terms of quality and efficiency, and it is satisfying that the speeds mentioned in the catalog are the actual operating speeds," said Juan Gabriel González, General Manager of Impackta. "The machine operates at 400 meters per minute, and waste is very low, which also demonstrates its efficiency. The acquisition and installation process of the laminator was very quick and easy, as the machine comes pre-assembled, using a plug-and-play concept, and can be installed in just a few days. Our experience with BOBST has been very positive."
Family-owned businesses with a focus on innovation
BOBST and Impackta are two companies with many things in common.
Both are family-owned businesses, run by several generations of the same family. Both are passionate believers in technological innovation, constantly seeking to evolve to stay at the forefront of industry trends, and both are determined to have the greatest possible impact for their customers.
"The company was founded by my father, Juan Carlos González. With his business vision, it began producing plastic bags before becoming a packaging converter," explains Juan Gabriel. "I was involved since I was a child, helping out after school. Now I run the company alongside my two sisters, continuing the family legacy. A few years ago, we merged three companies—Bolsi Plast, Hansa Plastic, and Envaflex—under the name Impackta to strengthen our core identity and centralize several key departments. Integrating systems and operations is easier, but integrating cultures requires a lot of attention, as our employees are our greatest assets. With that attention and our strategy, we hope to expand into other markets beyond Paraguay in the future."
Creating a more sustainable future
A key focus for Impackta is sustainability, collaborating with its customers toward a circular economy.
"This transformation involves the entire packaging value chain, from the machine manufacturer and raw material producers to the recycling process, and it takes time for the entire ecosystem to adapt to the new standards," said Juan Gabriel. "However, we are well positioned to support our customers in their quest to convert to more sustainable packaging."
For Impackta, the BOBST NOVA SX 550 laminator supports the company's sustainability goals by increasing efficiency and reducing waste. The machine offers streamlined production, with faster setups and changeovers that help the company respond to demands for short runs, fast turnaround times, and less waste. Its waste-reducing features include a patented one-touch automated wash system that requires less time and is more efficient at cleaning compared to similar machines, and automatic roll centering technology, which reduces setup time and waste. The machine's three-column design facilitates easy access to the lamination group for production and maintenance operations.
For Impackta, “sustainability is key and at the heart of what we do,” said Juan Gabriel.
“Our goal is to grow alongside our customers, supporting them to offer exceptional products in sustainable, top-quality packaging, always thinking about the future.”
