The future is digital

The technological advance that has changed, among so many things, the means of communicating, has also changed printing

From Gutenberg’s first press, through offset, rotogravure, screen printing, typography, flexography, hot stamping to digital printing, much has changed in the printing industry. To be updated about this evolution is crucial, especially for converters.

With more than 130 years in the market, Swiss multinational BOBST develops equipment that fulfills customers’ needs, dictating the evolution of the market. An example of this is the new digital inkjet printing presses launched for the label industry, the LB701-UV and the LB702-UV.

Fernando Vasconcelos, BOBST Area Sales Manager for Flexible Materials, says that these launches for the digital market are a consequence of the company's performance.

“One of the characteristics of BOBST is to have a very strong vision of the future. The company, always attentive to everything that indicates the direction of the market in the future, has developed the LB701-UV and LB702-UV digital printers. But the strategy of advancing in digital began much earlier, in 2009, in a relationship with Kodak and subsequently followed up with the Swiss startup Mouvent. A complex process that allowed the company to make available a unique technology,” says Vasconcelos.

The commercial manager also talks about the quality of the equipment. “Among the digital printing machines available on the market, we probably have the fastest and most productive,” he says.

Before bringing the LB701-UV and LB702-UV presses to Brazil, Fernando says that BOBST local team started testing the main substrates used by local customers on existing equipment in Europe. “Prior to the first demonstration in Brazil, which took place in early December 2021, we conducted 15 direct online demonstrations from our units in Europe, made in our Competence Centers in Barcelona and Switzerland, including running customers jobs and receiving samples here in Brazil. It was very intense work while the equipment was on its way to Brazil, with excellent results,” he comments.

In Brazil, more than 40 customers have already had the opportunity to see the technology live in action, including running real jobs, with very surprising results. The combination of equipment and service offered by BOBST, which brings a complete solution to customers, added to the tradition and excellence of the company, makes the manager optimistic.

“The business model that BOBST has developed for the market, the set of equipment and service for the digital label printing sector, makes me believe that soon the company will take the lead in this industry,” concludes Vasconcelos.
