A BOBST CL 1000D laminator is the key component in the production setup for induction seal specialist Inducoat in Brazil. The company is successfully leveraging the high versatility of the multi-technology, high-speed machine to offer a plethora of value-added solutions and maintain its leading position in the cap sealing market.
Dedicated to the manufacture of induction seals and sealing discs, family-owned Inducoat was carved out of self-adhesive materials and label company Flexcoat in 2022. Located in Jundiaí, north-west of São Paulo, the company serves various segments – cosmetics, food, automotive, chemical and agrochemicals – with a wide range of cap sealing solutions. These solutions provide many value-added benefits such as tamper evidence, leak prevention, shelf-life extension, and child safety.
To guarantee effective lamination, which is crucial for achieving sealing integrity, Inducoat installed a BOBST CL 1000D multi-technology machine as part of its production setup. “Having researched the lamination options on the market carefully, we chose the CL 1000D machine from BOBST for our business, because it allows us to produce the widest variety of applications and because it is known for high reliability and quality,” said Alexandro Agostinho, Inducoat’s Process and R&D Manager.
Meeting challenges with BOBST lamination
As demand for induction seals has grown significantly in recent years in step with the increase in e-commerce, Inducoat has experienced significant challenges in keeping its place at the forefront of the industry.
Products for e-commerce must meet the strict requirements of online platforms such as Amazon and Mercado Libre, with airtight sealing guaranteed to prevent leaks during transport. Inducoat must also ensure the safety and integrity of the products by providing tamper-evident seals that assure consumers of the quality. And crucially, Inducoat must be seen to lead the way in sustainable production with products and processes that help lessen the environmental footprint of packaging.
In the face of these challenges, Inducoat employs advanced technologies, such as the BOBST CL 1000D laminator, to ensure the quality and sustainability of its products. Solutions include simple induction seals, two-piece induction seals or discs, sealing discs, easy-to-remove seals and lids, high resistance seals, and seals with valve, among others.
Exceptional performance at high speed
The BOBST CL 1000D laminator allows Inducoat to differentiate itself from its competitors. By providing the necessary consistency in production, it ensures precise control over the adhesive application weight, which is essential for manufacturing high-quality induction seals. The productivity of the laminator is also very high. The machine is capable of operating at high speeds, increasing productivity without compromising quality. Recent testing conducted by Inducoat for a third party confirmed its exceptional performance at speeds exceeding 300 m/min.
“What’s most important for us is the consistent product quality that the BOBST CL 1000D laminator offers. There are no variations in the application because the adhesive load adjusts automatically during the process to accommodate speed and other factors,” explained Agostinho. “And surprisingly, it seems that the machine is even more stable running at 300–350 m/min than at lower speed.”

This machine has since been renamed MASTERLAM 1000 in line the latest BOBST portfolio. Please visit www.bobst.com for more details.
Solvent-less lamination for greener production
In addition to the high productivity and excellent quality, the multi-technology capability of the BOBST CL 1000D laminator, which is equally adept at running solvent-less, solvent or water-based adhesives, was a key factor in the investment decision for Inducoat.
With the market’s increasing focus on sustainability, solvent-less technology is particularly important as it prevents solvent emissions into the atmosphere, making the manufacturing process greener. However, solvent-less technology still faces challenges in terms of resistance to high temperatures, especially during the induction process, where sealing temperatures can exceed 200° C.
“Inducoat remains committed to investing in research and development to improve solvent-less technology and make it more efficient, supported by the capabilities of the BOBST laminator,” stated Agostinho. “In the meantime, solvent-based adhesives offer superior resistance to high temperatures. Fortunately, the BOBST machine allows us to offer both.”
Choosing BOBST for future investments
The strategic investment in the BOBST CL 1000D laminator with its high flexibility and efficiency in production has given Inducoat a significant competitive advantage. Right from the outset, the machine has enabled the company to offer the widest range of induction seals with different characteristics, thus allowing it to serve a much broader range of industries.
With the increase in demand, it is expected that Inducoat will continue to expand its production capacity to maintain its prominent position in the Brazilian market. Based on the great experience with the CL 1000D laminator, the company sees a promising future with the possibility of acquiring more machines from BOBST. They cite the reliability of the equipment as well as the excellent after-sales support that BOBST offers as the main reasons.
Agostinho concluded: “Our BOBST laminator will be with us for a long time to come, because this machine fully meets our production needs. I also expect that we will need to acquire more machines as volumes continue to grow, increasing the need for additional capacity. Because of the great reliability of the equipment and the good service, it is more than likely that the next machine will come from BOBST.”
