The First BOBST EXPERT K5 with AluBond® in North America Gives FAM Ti a Competitive Edge in the High Barrier Metallized Film Market

FAM Ti Inc. based in Canada became the first company in North America to have a BOBST EXPERT K5 with AluBond®.

FAM Ti Inc. have seen for themselves the benefits of the machine and in particular, the AluBond® process which has allowed them to produce high barrier metallized films with a high bond strength to meet their customers’ requirements and given the company a meaningful advantage in quality, consistency, reliability and market differentiation.

The EXPERT K5 in conjunction with the AluBond® process provides versatility and gives great uniformity taking away the challenges that are associated with metallizing different substrates. This is important for FAM Ti Inc. as they metallize a range of substrates and since having the metallizer, they have been able to improve their R&D by developing new products and applications for their customers including metallized PLA.

AluBond® developed by BOBST is well-known in the industry for its ability to increase metal bond strength on the most commonly used film substrates, as well as providing increased harrier levels on polyolefin based substrates and is fast becoming the standard metallizing process for these film types. As the only company in North America to be able to offer AluBond® coated film to its customers, FAM Ti have had great feedback with customers commenting that they have never seen the high level of bond before that AluBond® provides.

FAM Ti Inc. began operating in 2020 as a distributor of commodity films, including BOPP and polyester. Since then, they have expanded their product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities. In 2023, they invested in additional slitting equipment and moved into a 50,000-square-foot facility, following with another 56,000 square-foot facility in 2025, making total facility of 106,000 square-foot space, Today, they operate six slitters, offer toll-slitting services, and maintain more than two million pounds of substrate inventory. With the addition of the BOBST EXPERT K5, they are now both a distributor and a manufacturer. FAM Ti Inc. are planning further expansion to meet customer demand within North America and are also planning to begin distributing to markets globally.
