BOBST Sustainability

Chairman and CEO
Message

The machines we build run in converting plants around the world, for fifteen to thirty years. The packaging they produce reaches millions of people every day. This is our footprint and our greatest lever for change.

Alain Guttman
Chairman of the Board

Jean-Pascal Bobst
Chief executive officer

Values that hold us accountable

Trust, Respect, Passion and Performance have shaped BOBST for decades. They are woven into the way we run our business: how we engage with customers, how we treat the people who work alongside us, and how we make decisions that affect the world beyond our factory walls. Sustainability is no exception. The same discipline that drives our engineering drives our commitment to doing better: setting clear targets, tracking progress honestly, and acknowledging where we still fall short.

Engineering sustainability across the value chain

We approach sustainability the way we approach engineering: with precision and a commitment to measurable results. Our strategy is structured around three streams: our own operations, the performance of our equipment over its lifetime, and the recyclability of the packaging it produces. Each has defined targets, roadmaps and accountability. We have set science-based reduction targets validated by the SBTi. Our product lines each carry a sustainability roadmap, driving energy and resource efficiency where it matters most: in the machines our customers operate every day. Together with industry partners, we develop recyclable packaging structures and contribute to the standards that will shape tomorrow's recycling infrastructure. Across our supply chain, we hold suppliers to the same expectations we set for ourselves.

Investing in people, building a culture

Our values also define how we build this company from within. Our apprenticeship program has trained over 3 800 professionals since 1929 because we have always believed that long-term success starts with investing in the next generation. In 2025, more than 21 700 hours of safety training were delivered across the Group, reflecting a simple conviction: respect for people means protecting them. We are taking concrete steps toward equal opportunity, with a gender pay analysis now covering our four largest locations and a structured remediation plan to follow. And through the Youth Committee and BOBST Communities, we nurture the kind of culture where shared responsibility and collective ambition go hand in hand.

Honest about the road ahead

We are proud of the progress we have made. We are equally clear-eyed about what remains: our value chain accounts for over 99% of our emissions, and the shift to truly circular packaging is still in its early stages. Closing these gaps will take sustained effort, continued investment and the collaboration of an entire industry.

Creating lasting value

We believe this path creates lasting value for our customers, for the people who choose to build their careers here, and for the packaging industry we are committed to helping transform.
