BOBST has collaborated with tooling partner Wohing Laser Mould to support the training and upskilling of machine operators in South China with the opening of a new Competence Center.
The center is located at Wohing’s site in Shenzhen and complements the services and facilities offered by BOBST Shanghai at nearby Guangzhou Competence House, which opened in June 2019.
Wohing is a manufacturer of plates, accessories and equipment to the die-cutting sector. The new center will offer die-cutter operator training, thanks to the installation of a BOBST die-cutting machine, product and tooling testing. On December 16, 2019, it was officially opened by Cyril Ruiz-Moise, General Manager of Bobst Shanghai, Wohing Jiang, General Manager of Wohing, and Yin Fushou , R&D Directory of Guangzhou Hengyuan Printing.
“The new Competence Center supports the Bobst China 4.0 strategy and is an additional facility to Guangzhou Competence House for South China. It further extends BOBST presence in South China from our existing training facility in Shanghai and means that we can cater to the needs of our customers in the major city of Shenzhen.” Said Mr. Cyril Ruiz-Moise,“ We will work with Wohing, our tooling partner, to provide machine and tooling training for die-cutter operators and support customers with product testing. I believe that by providing training and ongoing support to our customers, we are able to help them achieve their wider business objectives through improved operational productivity and efficiency.”

The die-cutter operators from Guangzhou Hengyuan Printing were the first to receive training at the new Training Center. The course covered machine maintenance, machine core functions and controls, common problems and solutions in high-speed production, key points and fine-tuning of high-speed die cutting , stripping and blanking , tooling introduction and training from Wohing.
Yin Fushou, R&D Directory of Hengyuan Printing, commented: “Product specialists from BOBST delivered off-the-shelf training related to die-cutting, as well as bespoke training solutions suited to an individual or a specific business need. This kind of training enhances operators’ understanding of the die-cutting machines. In addition, being able to increase the operators’ knowledge enables them to have a deeper understanding of their role in the whole production process and therefore enjoy a greater sense of fulfilment in their role.”
