BOBST marks 50 years of excellence in Latin America with Brazil site anniversary celebration

BOBST is celebrating a remarkable milestone as its site in São Paulo marks the 50 years of the company in Latin America.

The Bobst Latinoamerica do Sul plant represents an important part of the company’s history, as it was the first site to be established outside of BOBST’s home country of Switzerland. Now, after 50 years spent shaping the future of packaging in Latin America, the company is taking a moment to recognize the site’s extraordinary journey.

Jean-Pascal Bobst, CEO of BOBST, said: "We are very proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our operation in Latin America. The region has been pivotal in the history of our company's global expansion, and with a highly experienced senior leadership team at the helm, we are confident of continued success as we look to deliver on our vision of shaping the future of the packaging world, through connectivity, digitalization, automation, and sustainability.”

Eduardo Petroni, Managing Director of Bobst Latinoamerica do Sul, added: “Today, this site has produced thousands of machines for local and international markets – and that machinery has converted billions of packs over the past 50 years. Virtually every pack produced for every major Brazilian consumer brand today will be run on a BOBST solution at least once.

“That means Bobst Latinoamerica do Sul is more than a symbol of quality and innovation. It reflects the commitment of each employee who, with their dedication, has helped build a legacy that reaches far beyond the equipment we produce and the services we deliver.”

After upgrading to bigger facilities several times throughout its history, Bobst Latinoamerica do Sul is currently situated at a state-of-the-art 18,000m2 facility in Itatiba, a municipality in São Paulo. The operation manufactures BOBST's world-leading lines of die-cutting machines, such as NOVACUT and VISIONCUT, and folder-gluers, such as EXPERTFOLD and NOVAFOLD, as well as a variety of peripherals and accessories for paperboard packaging converters in the Americas and around the world.

The site has the capacity to produce a variety of high-performance BOBST machines, peripherals and devices per year, with each one supported by a comprehensive technical support and service program.

Mr. Bobst added: “In 1974, this site became the first to produce a die-cutter outside of Switzerland. That was a deserved demonstration of trust in the technical competency of our Brazilian colleagues, and they continue to repay that trust many times over.

“In the future, we see Bobst Latinoamerica do Sul as being one of the sites best placed to incorporate our new technology for digitalization, automation, and digital printing. I’m very proud of the team for continuing to drive the BOBST vision in the Latin America region.”
