Galoppin Papier expands folding carton capabilities with dual BOBST die-cutting investment

Belgian food packaging specialist Galoppin Papier has invested in a BOBST VISIONCUT 106 LER Autoplaten® die-cutter as the business continues to expand its folding carton capabilities.

Founded in 1937 and now in its fourth generation of family ownership, Galoppin Papier has built its reputation on high-quality packaging for the food industry from its site in Boortmeerbeek, Belgium. With a team of 50 employees, its own prepress department and a production park of around 30 machines, the business has grown considerably in recent years, particularly in folding cartons.

The business found that a die-cutter from another manufacturer was reaching the end of its life cycle and disrupting production, requiring a solution that would both relieve the pressure and raise the bar on quality and efficiency.

The company’s production site includes a BOBST SP 1080 flatbed die-cutter that has been running reliably for some 60 years. Galoppin Papier, therefore, had a clear benchmark for the kind of longevity and performance they expected from any new investment.

A visit to the BOBST Competence Centre proved decisive, and Galoppin Papier came away from the demonstration convinced that the VISIONCUT 106 LER was the right choice. The machine impressed with its ease of job changeover standing out as a particular differentiator in a market where finding and training skilled operators is an ongoing challenge.

The VISIONCUT 106 LER is a high-performance Autoplaten® die-cutter capable of speeds up to 8,000 sheets per hour, engineered for both short and long run production. Its contactless sheet registration system and state-of-the-art cut-to-print register deliver consistent, high-quality output across a wide range of substrates, while automatic features and quick-setup design significantly reduce operator workload and changeover times.  Thanks to the productivity gains achieved at the die-cutting stage, Galoppin Papier has been able to optimize downstream folding and gluing operations to support its growing folding carton volumes.

Wouter Galoppin said: "We knew BOBST had a good name for quality. We’ve experienced it with our machine from the 1960s, which still works. The ease of changing jobs was what impressed us most when we visited the Competence Centre. It's a lot easier to train operators on, and we gain a lot of time with it. For some jobs, it could cut our setup times in half."

Since installation in early 2026, the VISIONCUT 106 LER has already delivered tangible results, with operators benefiting from significantly faster, more straightforward job changeovers across the production floor.

Pierre Feltgen, Area Sales Manager Belgium at BOBST, said: "Galoppin Papier is a fantastic example of a business that has grown and diversified intelligently over many decades. When we visited the site, it was clear that the right investment could make a real difference, not just in capacity but in the confidence that operators have in the machinery. We're proud to have been chosen as the partner to support their next chapter, and we look forward to building on a relationship that already spans generations."
