LOC España renews its commitment to BOBST solutions to continue delivering highly precise and complex labels in an automated and productive way

The family-owned company has built its reputation on a foundation of high quality and the ability to continuously tackle challenges in label production. With the recent installation of a second BOBST MASTER M5 flexo press, the label manufacturer strengthens its production capacity while already setting its sights on adding a third BOBST machine and its first digital press at the plant

In the self-adhesive label industry, trust is everything. For LOC España, that trust has been earned over the years through personalized service, consistent quality, and a willingness to take on projects that go beyond conventional limits in label production. When the company needed to expand its printing capacity, there was only one direction in sight: BOBST, a partner that had already proven its expertise at its production plant.

The company has recently installed its second BOBST MASTER M5 inline flexo press, a decision based both on operational needs and on a relationship built over more than ten years. For LOC, this is not simply an investment to increase production capacity, but a statement of confidence in continuing to strengthen its collaborative partnership with BOBST.

When quality allows no compromises and time is always critical

The label market in Spain and across Europe is being reshaped by constant pressure that industry professionals refer to as the “Amazon effect”: customers demand ever faster delivery times, flawless quality, and competitive prices—all at the same time. For a specialist like LOC España, this pressure is constant.

“Our customers demand very high quality and zero defects,” says Zoilo López, CEO of LOC. “Orders are typically high-volume, and a single error can result in significant product losses. They know they can come to us with any challenge: multilayer labels, variable numbering in booklet-style labels, reserved areas and special adhesives, or complex die-cutting solutions. This wide range of offerings forms the basis of our value proposition.”

Founded in 1985 as part of an industrial group linked to the paper sector, LOC España evolved into a specialized manufacturer of self-adhesive labels and has grown steadily under the leadership of the founding family. Over 16 years ago, the second generation took over when Zoilo joined the business, bringing renewed energy and a clear focus on innovation and customer service, while maintaining the close, personal culture that has always defined the company. LOC currently operates three shifts and serves customers in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetics sectors, mainly in Spain.

The challenge was not only to increase production volume. As order complexity grew and delivery times shortened, the company needed greater production flexibility and the ability to efficiently balance workflows across the entire plant. Replicating the existing machine with an identical model was the most logical solution.

The logic of duplication: the same machine, a stronger operation

LOC España’s relationship with BOBST began more than a decade ago, driven by trust and the expertise of the local BOBST team together with Feimar, the brand’s official distributor in Spain. Its first machine, a BOBST MASTER M4, quickly proved its value in terms of versatility, reliability, and efficiency on a single platform. Its intuitive operation, combined with innovative integrated tools, made an immediate difference for LOC.

When the time came to expand production capacity, they chose to invest in the same model to ensure maximum compatibility of tooling, shared operator know-how, and smooth job transitions between production lines. The high-performance MASTER M5 flexo press was installed in mid-2025, with immediate impact—not only in increased capacity but also in how easily it integrated into the existing production environment.

“We chose BOBST because it fits our philosophy: a young, dynamic, and above all innovative company,” explains Zoilo. With the second flexo press now operational, LOC has increased its production capacity and, thanks to having two very similar BOBST lines, has achieved better balance in both production capacity and workflows across the plant.

“Machine tools like Print Tutor Technology are a key differentiator from competitors and perfectly align with the quality culture that defines our company,” notes Andrés Marían, Production Manager at LOC.

The company is also investing in the food labeling segment, particularly in labels designed for high-speed dual-head application equipment. In this area, the speed and reliability of the BOBST platform have been essential.

“BOBST has helped us achieve the speed and reliability needed to meet very tight deadlines, as well as to offer efficient finishing solutions such as multilayer and linerless labels,” says Zoilo.

BOBST’s technical support has matched the quality of its equipment. The evolution of BOBST Ibérica’s local service has brought tangible improvements to collaboration between the two companies, with service being a key factor for a business that values long-term relationships above all.

Opening doors to other Spanish converters – a unique opportunity

On June 10 and 11, the LOC team, in collaboration with partners BOBST and Avery Dennison, opened the doors of its production plant to other professionals in the label industry during LOC Spain’s Open House event. Sharing insights on the latest solutions, printing technologies, and self-adhesive materials provided a unique opportunity to further drive innovation and collaboration.

Together with market experts, BOBST demonstrated how to produce multilayer labels using flexographic, digital, and hybrid technologies combining both. Attendees were also able to experience how to produce a coupon-style label using flexo technology on LOC’s MASTER M5 press in an automated, inspected, high-speed process.

A third machine on the way and the first digital press to be installed at LOC’s plant

“Jaume Martínez from Feimar always says that a sale is truly confirmed with the second machine. If everything goes as planned, we expect to install a third one this year. We highlight the simplicity of machine operation and their continuous evolution—that combination is hard to find,” says Zoilo.

With a fully digital press already planned to be installed before the end of the year, LOC Spain’s trajectory is clear. For a family business built on values of precision, agility, and trust, BOBST has become much more than a supplier: it is a strategic partner aligned with its values and ambitions.

“LOC España is exactly the kind of partner that inspires us,” says Jordi Giralt, Head of BOBST’s Labels Division. “They combine the spirit of a family business with a commitment to innovation and quality that is hard to match. Seeing them grow from one BOBST machine to two—and soon three—is a great source of pride for our team. In an industry where the margin for error is measured in microns and delivery windows are increasingly tight, this type of collaboration is invaluable. We look forward to continuing to support their ambitions and helping them stay at the forefront of an increasingly demanding market.”
